- Start with a straight-on photo with some space around the face — required proportions differ from phone cameras, and the crop is centred.
- Good, even lighting compresses better than shadows, leaving more quality inside the KB budget.

The portal wants at least 20 KB but my photo comes out at 14 KB.

Will the photo be cropped?
If your photo's proportions differ from the required dimensions, it is scaled to fill and centre-cropped. Start with a straight-on photo with margin around the face.

Why do portals reject photos that look fine?
The checks are mechanical: exact pixel dimensions, a byte range, JPEG format. A photo can look perfect and fail all three — this tool makes it pass all three.
Why exam-photo uploads fail, and the fix
Every application season, portals reject millions of photo uploads for reasons invisible to the applicant: 198 pixels wide instead of 200, 53 KB instead of 50, a PNG renamed to .jpg. The rules exist so downstream systems — admit cards, attendance sheets, ID verification — can process images mechanically, and they're enforced mechanically too.
The fix is to make the file mechanically correct: resize to the exact pixels, re-encode as real JPEG, and steer the file size into the allowed window — including padding up to the minimum, the failure case almost no tool handles.
